We Dance Through Days

A celebration of slow living

I authored this song to contrast the calm of slow living against the modernity of busy living, to celebrate the peace found in choosing less within a culture that chooses more. It embraces keeping family near. The line “where olives grow” nods to Italy, evoking its idyllic culture of unhurried living.

Lyrics

They chase the clock like it’s something owed,
But we found peace in a lighter load.

They dash through streets, with their hurried feet,
Piling kids in the car for the race.
From the field to the stage, they turn each page,
Chasing moments they can’t embrace.

We dance through days in a sunlit glaze,
Where the olives grow and time stands still.
With our children close, we savor most
The peace that blooms when life is still.

They weave through days, in a restless maze,
Shuttling young ones from place to place.
With their bags packed tight, they chase the light,
Missing the stillness they never taste.

We dance through days in a sunlit glaze,
Where the olives grow and time stands still.
With our children close, we savor most
The peace that blooms when life is still.

In the evening’s calm, we guide with psalms,
Lessons shared as the stars unfold.
Every breath we take, every bond we make,
In this slow sweet calm, our hearts behold.

We dance through days in a sunlit glaze,
Where the olives grow and time stands still.
With our children close, we savor most
The peace that blooms when life is still.
